The big new film for kids due out in April 2009 is Skellig, an adaptation of David Almond's novel. It'll be shown on Sky 1 prior to cinema release.

It's another big role for rising star Bill Milner (represented by Curtis Brown), star of 2008's hit film Son of Rambow.

Bill Milner plays the leading role of Michael in the new film adaptation of David Almond's award winning book.

He'll be joined by another promising young actor Skye Bennett (represented by Jackie Palmer) as his new friend Mina.

Film Synopsis:

When a move to a new house coincides with his baby sister's illness, Michael's world suddenly seems lonely and uncertain. Then, one afternoon he stumbles into the old ramshackle garage at the end of the garden, and finds something that will change his world forever.
Skellig is a strange and extraordinary creature, as ancient as the earth and now intent on a life of nothing and nobody. With his new friend Mina who teaches him to look at the world through different eyes, Michael nourishes the reluctant Skellig back to health, while his parents are preoccupied with this baby sister lying in hospital. When Micheal realises that Skellig may have much more power than he would ever admit to, he knows he has to give Skellig back faith in his own power to heal, before it is too late.

Tim Roth plays the angelic title role with John Simm and Kelly Macdonald as Michael's parents.
