In The Aliens, Olly plays Evan, a newly recruited waiter with a keen work ethic at a small coffee shop in Vermont. On discovering a pair of intellectual loungers perched in the staff’s dilapidated smoking area, Evan is gently drawn into their world of soft drugs, new-age philosophies and bands that never quite were, realising that there might be more to life than he’d previously thought.
His debut has been met with widespread critical acclaim. In the Evening Standard, Henry Hitchings writes, “The highlight is Olly Alexander as Evan. Shortly to be seen in a new film of Gulliver’s Travels, he has a precision and oddly nervous charm that make him a significant talent to watch.”
Mark Shenton of The Stage describes Olly’s as a “remarkable stage debut...He’s a riveting presence, wide-eyed (and even wider-eared) with fascination and fear.”
The Aliens runs at the Bush Theatre in London until 16th October.

Hinds will play the local landowner who counsels Daniel Radcliffe as he investigates this Victorian mystery. McTeer will play Hinds’ on-screen wife, Mrs. Daily.
Directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake) and written by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, The Debt), The Woman in Black follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), who is ordered to travel to a remote corner of the UK and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works alone in an old and isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover its tragic secrets, and his unease grows when he discovers that the local village is held hostage by the ghost of a scorned woman set on vengeance.
Sophie Stuckey, soon to be seen as the lead in Summer in Transylvania, plays Arthur Kipps' doomed fiancee Stella.
Two young actors, who worked together in the summer on The Awakening, have been cast as some of the young children in the village, many of whom have mysteriously died.
9 year old Sidney Johnston will play the part of Nicholas Daily and 11 year old Alfie Field will play Tom Hardy.
Auditions have also been under way for a 3 - 5 year old boy to play Edward the son of Arthur Kipps.
The film is scheduled for release in October 2011.
Based on the award-winning book by Richard and Florence Atwater, "Penguins" tells the story of a high-powered businessman (Carrey) who inherits six penguins. As he gets acquainted with, and increasingly attached to, his winged roommates, Popper's life quickly unravels. His swanky New York apartment is turned into a snowy winter wonderland, the deal he's long been working on is derailed, and he almost lands in jail. But thanks to his new charges, Popper comes to understand the importance of family, human and otherwise.
Lovibond is playing Poppers' personal assistant. The film is set to shoot next month in New York.
24 year old Ophelia (represented by BWH) has been quietly making a name for herself in the UK, appearing in TV and film roles since she was 14. More recently she appeared in a small role as a love interest to Aaron Johnson in "Nowhere Boy." She also will be seen in William Monahan's "London Boulevard" with Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley, and in Hideo Nakata's Chatroom, and most recently appeared in Noel Clarke's "4321" with Emma Roberts. She will make her American debut in "No Strings," the Ivan Reitman comedy starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher.
You must have a British accent, can be any ethnicity, streetwise and attractive.
PLEASE PREPARE 2 verses or 1 verse & a chorus from a song of your own choosing (unaccompanied).
The film is about 'Jamie' she is a young offender who forms a GOSPEL CHOIR to escape her destructive life in London.
Jamie is a fantastic and exceptional singer with a strong and interesting look. She can come from any region but must be street - a tough working class girl. She is an offender but has a vulnerability which we see despite the tough side of her. She does not have to be a trained actress or singer she just should have it all. She does time in prison and writes her own songs, and her songs and lyrics are woven through the story. She joins a Gospel choir and then ends up performing and singing her own stuff with a following.
The OPEN CASTING is being held from 9:00am - 3:00pm on Saturday 2nd October at the American Church 79A, Tottenham Court Road, London W1T 4TD
Although this has not been confirmed by Summit Entertainment, so it will be interesting to see if it's true. It may just be wishful thinking - there was even a petition launched last year to get her cast in the role!
The film stars Hollywood actress Minnie Driver, whose father orginally hails from Swansea.
Starring opposite Minnie are rising stars Aneurin Barnard (represented by Ken McReddie Associates), winner of the 2010 Olivier award for best actor in a musical for the West End musical Spring Awakening, and Kimberley Nixon (also Ken McReddie) who recently starred in Cherrybomb alongside Rupert Grint and Robert Sheehan.
Hunky Dory is set in Swansea in the summer of 1976 – the hottest summer the UK has ever seen. It is half-way between a musical and a drama and centres around the trials and tribulations of an idealistic drama teacher as she tries to put on the end of year show; a rock and roll, space age version of Shakespeare’s Tempest using the kids’ favourite pop songs to tell the story. A kind of grand “rock opera” in the tradition of “Tommy” and “Jesus Christ Superstar” which were all the rage at the time.
The film follows her single-handed attempt to put the show on and knock these teenagers into shape, a hard enough task made harder by the relentless sunshine and enticing beaches of Swansea.
The story is essentially a simple one about a school show, and the plot centres around a burnt down school hall, an ill judged affair and the everyday trials and tribulations of teenage life.
Minnie Driver told the London Evening Standard: "If it works, it's going to be so stunning, and so heartbreaking.
"All these little kids putting their fingers on jam jars, making whoo-whoo sounds for the Velvet Underground, it's absolutely magic."
Minnie, said her musical background, which has seen her release two solo albums, makes her ideal casting for the role.
The Gavin and Stacey fan added she believed she had a convincing Welsh accent.
"I have the most brilliant dialect coach who does all the Billy Elliots around the world," she said.
Hunky Dory is produced by Jon Finn (Billy Elliot) and directed by Marc Evans (Snow Cake, My Little Eye). The film is expected to be released in 2011.

Sean, who lives near Wandsworth Park, said being part of the show was an “amazing opportunity”, adding the cast and crew had “so much fun together”.
Sean went through the audition process for Skins while he was revising for his A-levels at Latymer Upper School, in Hammersmith.
Then, one day before his 18th birthday in June, this year, Sean received a life-changing phonecall.
“The producer called me and said ‘I want to give you an early birthday present, you’ve got the part’.
“But the problem was I could not tell anyone - I probably just wanted to scream.”
Sean, who has deferred his place at Manchester University studying history and economics to pursue his acting career, remained tight-lipped about his role in the show.
He revealed his character was a bit of a jock, but “not that sort of 2D standard American jock”.
“He goes out with one of the other girls in the cast. Although it appears he may have the perfect life you get to see he’s actually very vulnerable. He does some things that would be frowned upon to put it politely.”
And asked whether the cast’s hijinks continued off-screen, Sean said “everything is done in moderation”, adding it was “civilised and rowdy at the same time”.
“We do have a lot of fun together but nowhere near enough fun to jeopardize the job we are doing.”
The fourth series will again star Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane. Young actors Tommy Knight, Daniel Anthony and Anjli Mohindra return as popular regulars Luke, Clyde and Rani. Plus a guest appearance from the Eleventh Doctor Who, Matt Smith and XFactor finalist Lucie Jones (represented by CAM).
The Sarah Jane Adventures airs every Monday and Tuesday at 5.15pm on CBBC channel and on Wednesday and Thursday at 4.30pm on BBC Two in the first week moving to BBC One thereafter.
And, new to CBBC this year, Sarah Jane and the Bannerman Road gang recount their adventures each week in Sarah Jane's Alien Files – the ultimate guide of everything you could possibly need to know when facing hostile aliens.
Emma Watson has graduated from Hogwarts and landed her first post-Harry Potter grown-up role, according to Baz Bamigboye in the Mail.
The actress, now 20, who has played Hermione Granger in eight movies, including the much-anticipated two final Deathly Hallows instalments, has won a part opposite Michelle Williams, Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh, Dominic Cooper and Judi Dench in the movie My Week With Marilyn.
The film tells the story of Colin Clark (Redmayne), who worked as Laurence Olivier's assistant on the picture The Prince And The Showgirl, which starred bombshell Marilyn Monroe (Williams) and Olivier ( Branagh), who also directed.
Emma will play Lucy, a wardrobe assistant working behind the scenes during the making of The Prince And The Showgirl in 1956.
Lucy and Clark had a few dates which, according to his book The Prince, The Showgirl And Me (a precursor to My Week With Marilyn), usually involved Clark whizzing her up to London in his Bristol sports car, visiting a club and going on to his parents' 'set' at The Albany, where 'she kisses like an angel'.
The main shooting schedule for My Week With Marilyn begins at Pinewood Studios on October 4.

Renesmee is the half-human, half-vampire daughter of Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson) and Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart). The casting directors are holding auditions in New York and Los Angeles and are looking for a young girl who has some acting experience and is confident on a film set environment. This girl should have self-composure, good physical posture, and be very attentive, able to take direction well, and be quick to react. They also would prefer a girl with dance training.
The casting directors are not having open casting calls for this role due to the extremely high profile nature of the project. Rene Haynes, who was the casting director that handled Native American roles for the Twilight Saga films New Moon and Eclipse, held open casting calls for the films. She was quoted as saying, “It was crazy, especially in the early days, in the first four weeks after the announcement that my office was casting these roles we stopped counting emails after 20,000. We had created a dedicated email address for the project. We got so many we had to create another one."
Filming on Breaking Dawn Part I starts November 1, 2010 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The film is directed and co-written by Mike’s childhood friend Sara Sugarman and stars Phil Daniels, Keith Allen, Julia Ford and Perry Benson.
Director and co-writer Sara is delighted with how filming went in Denbighshire. She said: “We’ve had 24 days of shooting and we’re doing our last day here then a few more things in London.”
Explaining the plot, she said: “It’s about how Mike Peters in 2004 was told by a label he was too old to put out his single. So he got four 17-year-olds to mime to his record and it went straight into the charts. When they found out it was Mike, they pulled it.”
Auditions were held for local 15- 18 year olds in the north Wales area for parts in the film. Auditionees had to perform a musical piece with MAJOR PUNK ATTITUDE and play the guitar as well as display their acting skills.
The final line-up for The Poppyfields:
Jamie Blackley stars as Drainpipe. Jamie (represented by United Agents) was a member of the original Spring Awakening cast, and played George Harrison in the stage adaptation of Beatles musical Backbeat. He has had a number of small TV and film roles including one in E4's Misfits.
Local Rhyl actress 15 year old Alexa Davies who plays Flora.
Joining her in the "band" are fellow local students 17 year old Will Peters,
and Dani Washington,
Vinyl is scheduled for release in 2011.

Billy Elliot The Musical star 14 year old Tom Holland (represented by Curtis Brown) has been cast in the main role of Lucas, the eldest brother. Tom, from Kingston-upon-Thames is the son of comedian Dominic Holland, and spent nearly two years playing Billy Elliot in the West End after landing the role when he was 12, finishing his run in May this year.
Little Oaklee Pendergast (represented by Sylvia Young Agency) will play the youngest brother Simon, with newcomer Samuel Joslin as Thomas.
Shooting on the film will move from Spain to Thailand in October.
17 year old Alex Arnold (represented by Rossmore Management) is set to play a metalhead heavy metal fan called Richard Hardbeck in the teenage TV drama Skins.
Alex describes his character and the audition process he went through to get the part in Season 5 of Skins.
“ My character is a metalhead. He’s pretty mixed up about how he feels. He doesn’t really believe in a compromise in any beliefs he has but there’s a girl he meets and it spins his world around a little bit. It’s a metal take on a love story.”Although Alex managed to beat off competition from 8,000 other hopefuls to get the part on the popular E4 drama, he nearly opted out of the first audition in Camden in May because he was ill.
“I had a virus that day and I nearly left the queue but my friends who had come with me to audition made me stay. I’ve watched the show and I’m a big fan so I saw it as a good opportunity. I was really surprised to get through all 10 auditions. I’m incredibly lucky to get the part.“Quite a few of my friends knew I was auditioning but I don’t think any of them expected me to get this far. When I told them I’d been picked they were shocked but pleased for me.”
Alex has been involved with Ashford Youth Theatre, as well as the National Youth Theatre, and has been in several plays but this is his first role on television. After two months of being on setin Bristol he said his first experience of filming for the small screen has been hard work.“If we’re working from 7am until 8pm it can be quite tiring,”
However, the job has its perks and the teenager has already met former glamour model turned actress Kelly Brook, who is reportedly playing a fitness instructor in the show.“I’ve met Kelly but unfortunately I’m not filming with her. She’s a guest star in one episode. I just met her in the hotel, she’s a very beautiful lady. She was really friendly and smiley. She’s a very lovely person.”
Although previous actors on the series like Nick Hoult and Dev Patel have gone on to become household names, Alex thinks it will be harder for the show’s fans to recognise him in real life.
“I actually wear a wig in the series so it’s going to be hard to spot me. I don’t know how it’s going to be received. I really hope the show does well, after all we make it for the fans.”
