Chloe Moretz to play Carrie in horror remake

15 year old Chloe Moretz is set to play the title role in the remake of coming-of-age horror film Carrie, based on the 1974 Stephen King bestseller.

Carrie White is a high school student who is raised by a nightmarish religious fanatic mother, and comes to grip with devastating telepathic powers just as she reaches puberty. She eventually uses those gifts for lethal means when fellow classmates use the prom as an excuse to humiliate her before the entire school, and gets her revenge on the bullies.

She will follow in the footsteps of Sissy Spacek who played the character in the first film directed by Brian DePalma, for which she got an Oscar nomination in 1977.

The new film is to be directed by Kim Pierce and is set to shoot later this year.
